I am…

I am…, a premier group exhibition of new work by MOSAIC an international artists’ collective which was founded by exhibiting members at the 2011 Florence Biennale of contemporary art. A collection of artworks by exhibiting artists Janine Whitling (Australia), Eunika Rogers (USA), Anca Danila (Ireland) and myself (England) explore the notion of identity in a variety of personal interpretations. This is the foundation of an impressive worldwide itinerant exhibit that will begin in Brisbane and will be presented in the home country of each participant over the next two years.

The Willow paintings were inspired by the trees in Birkenhead Park this autumn. I was interested in the strong vertical lines of the Willow presented in a panoramic format.

Birkenhead Park was designed by Thomas Paxton in 1848 -1851 and was the first public park of its kind in the world. Central Park in New York was fashioned on this design.

Since I have lived in England, emigrating here in 1995, Birkenhead Park was my local and first spacious refuge.
